Privacy notice
This notice explains what Obsidian Distributions (Pty) Ltd does with the personal information you submit through this website, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013.
What we collect
The contact form collects your name, company name, email address, phone number, the enquiry type you select, and the message you write. Our hosting provider also records the IP address the submission came from, which we use only to identify automated abuse.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to open and administer a trade account. We do not use these details for marketing unless you separately ask us to, and we do not sell or share them with third parties for their own purposes.
Who sees it
Enquiries are delivered to a mailbox on our own domain and are read by the staff who handle trade enquiries. Where answering your enquiry requires it, for example a warranty claim or a stock check, we may share the relevant details with the manufacturer or supplier concerned.
How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is retained for as long as we have an active or prospective trading relationship with you, and thereafter for the period required by applicable tax and company law.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we have no legal obligation to keep it. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. To exercise any of these, email sales@obsidiandistributions.co.za.
